summer marci

Hello again. Mary here.   Since I could not sleep I decided to show you something that I made last week.  I had the privilege of going to CHA in Chicago with Susie of Scrap Happy.  For those of you (like me until I went) CHA means Crafts and Hobby Association.  There were hundreds of exhibitions to look at as well as educational conferences, workshops, demos and special events.  It was held over a four day period.  Here is one of the make and takes that was offered at La-La Land Crafts.   This is Summer Marci.  She was colored with Copics. The dies are from La-La Land Crafts,  the Heart Fence Die and the Large Flourish die. I got to meet Irina, the owner of La-La Land Crafts.  She is so tiny but what a spitfire.  She was sooo very nice. Her assistant Sandy came all the way from Ireland to help her with the show.  Thanks Sandy for teaching me another way to color with my Copics, I have been practicing.  We at Scrap Happy are looking forward to Irina's visit to Scrap Happy in October.  Be sure to keep checking our Blog to find out all the details of Irina's visit. She will be holding classes while she is here. There were five of us that went to Chicago. What a wonderful time was had, good food, good drinks and good friendships.  Well, time for me to try to go to sleep.   Hope you have a wonderful day.  Keep smiling.

Another Baby Card with "Little Bo Peep"

 Hello Scrappers,
Here is the other baby card I promised you.  I love both cards and they were both made using the papers from "Little Bo Peep" 6 x 6 paper pack. It is amazing how different they are but both are equally beautiful.  You can't go wrong with these wonderful papers. This card is a very simple construction. No image to color just this wonderful stamped sentiment, "Rock a-bye Baby" by American Crafts. I sewed a pocket on the front of the card and the insert is 1/2 of a sheet of one of the papers in the 6 x 6 pack.  It has definitions of baby related words. I used Classic Scalloped Oval dies by Spellbinders. I cut the shape using Pink Lemonade, Scrap Happy Card Stock and then stamped my sentiment. I took my time to fuss with the bow till it was perfect.  I added the roses which are a Scrap Happy exclusive.  They will be available in the store on August 1 st. These roses are Awesome. They almost look like porcelain. Every thing you need to make this card is available in the store.  Thanks for visiting our blog today, spread some love and leave a comment....Until next time !!!!!!

A Wonderful Baby Card

I enjoyed making this baby card.  I am posting it before my scheduled time so I can enter it in a Challenge where a friend of mine is on the Design Team.

I started with a pre-folded standard card, my base is Scrap Happy card stock "Lemon Drop".  The paper is from the 6 x 6 pack, Little Bo Peep. My image of these sweet birds is from Stampavie which is available in the store. It is a photopolymer clear stamp. I colored it with Copic Markers. The image was stamped on Cryogen paper which was cut into a scalloped circle using Spellbinders, "Blossom Tags and Accents".

My Sentiment is stamped with an American Craft Stamp, "Rock a bye Baby". I made the sentiment by stamping on Cryogen paper and adhering a square of Lemon Drop card stock behind it.
I made the bow using We R Memory Keepers, " Yellow Liston Amarillo".
The flowers are by "Pebbles", which are available in the store.

I hope you enjoy viewing this card as much as I did making it. Come back Monday and see my other baby card. It is made by the same 6 x 6 paper pack and it has a totally different look.  I can't wait to share it with you.  See Ya Then.    Crafting Cathy

Fresh as a blanket of new fallen snow.....

........well, not quite, but let me tell you with this heat we're having I almost wish for some snow!  But. not today, today we feature FRESH by Authentique!  Everyone pretty much knows that Authentique is one of my FAVORITE paper companies and they NEVER disappoint!  Fresh is no different, it stirs up memories of  long sunny days at the beach, of soft ocean waves, the sand beneath your toes, the excitement of finding a seashell,  and the bathing beauties of bygone days.  It marries a soft, relaxing aqua-y blue with bold reddish-orange and pretty grey to bring it all together.

I have to be honest, it was a difficult line to work with.  As beautiful as it is I lean more towards vibrant colors, pinks, yellows, purples, reds, etc.,  and Fresh is much more low key........ but I LOVE a challenge!  I didn't feel it lended  itself well to cardmaking and I didn't really have any pictures I thought I could do with it, I was in a pickle.  The collection almost demands softly blurred photographs in sepia tones, anything else would just look misplaced and haphazard.......I had NOTHING!  But, as I was perusing Facebook one day a friend of mine posted a GORGEOUS picture of himself with his beautiful girlfriend at his family's lake house.  This was THE perfect picture, taken at sunset with a softly blurred background, the lake in the background, and featuring two lovely smiling faces and the perfect colors.  I wish I could take credit for taking this amazing picture, but alas, I cannot, I am not a good photographer, I would like to be, I appreciate good photography, there is just a disconnect between what I see in my head and how it turns out!  lol.  I can  take credit for the layout and I guess for knowing the subjects of the photo ;)  I emailed him immediately to get permission to use his photo, I mean, the balls had already started rollin' and I had the layout done in my head before he even said, "YES"!
Isn't this photo awesome??  I hope my layout does it justice.

I used two main papers from the collection.  The background paper is entitled "Light" and the mat & accent paper is entitled "Free".  I also used just a couple small pieces of the orange paper from the 6x6 pad. which I die cut using my Scrap Happy exclusive die, Flag Banner Trio.  I cut the waves with my LaLa Land Crafts Border Waves die, added several aqua and orange bling......other than that, everything else is from the collection's sticker sheet and alpha sheet.  That is something that is different for me, I don't use a lot of stickers in my layouts and cards, etc., but Authentique's sentiments and images are so unique and lovely and the quality of their sticker is second-to-none that I find myself using them more than any other, they just compliment beautifully.  That being said, I do find myself using Authentique's sticker sentiments and alphas in my other projects, as well.

WAIT.....I almost forgot, I used my new Mister Huey's (sold in store) for the first time!  The colors of Sunset and Powder Blue were a PERFECT match to the collection!  I liked the look of a lot of open space on this layout because the photo is the star, but I wanted to balance the color better in that space so I unscrewed the cap and "flicked" the color on instead of spraying.  I also wanted a more random, less obvious look.  It also pulls the eye up to the top right corner where I put the "title" stickers.  I think it went together nicely and will be a nice little gift to give my friends.  It will be on display at the store starting next week, though ;)

Well, that's it for now, stay tuned for even more Design Team works of art and some sneak peeks from CHA and what's to come!

As always, have a Scrap Happy Day!

Cosmo Cricket "Evangeline"

Hi Scrappers, It's me Cathy.  This week I am using Cosmo Cricket, "Evangeline", 6x6 paper pack.  I must admit this card starting going Victorian and I was powerless to stop it. The Evangeline papers are beautiful there are so many possibilities. I also used Evangeline, Ready Set Chip, chipboard pieces that are designed to coordinate with the 6x6 pack.  I chose the rose stamp by Inky Antics.  My embellishments are by want2scrap and the metal corners are by Darcie. The ribbon I used is Ruban Rouge by We R Memory Keepers and the pink lace I purchased in the store. . Everything to make this card is available in the store.

I started with a pre-folded card, and I used American Craft card stock. I cut the card stock so 1/8 inch of the white card was visible. Then I cut my three choices of Evangeline paper and arranged them on the card stock. I added my ribbon and lace and sewed around the outside edge. I glued this down and added my metal corners by Darcie. Then I added the bling by want2scrap, I stamped my rose image and cut it out then colored it with Copics. I cut a larger oval from the berry card stock and glued the two ovals together and then I took a pin and pricked around the edge of the berry oval. I repeated the paper pattern inside the card in reverse and stitched around the outer edge just like on the front of  the card. Then I cut a larger Oval of  Sweet Tooth card stock.   I stitched around the oval then I glued the paper to the inside of the card and added the butterflies to finish up.  The ovals where the roses are stamped and the butterflies on the front of the card are all popped up for dimension.

Another "Sweet Day" with Echo Park

Hi all, Mindy here. Yesterday I thought I had lost my mojo, but later in the day I guess I had found it.

I was able to start and complete a full layout using Echo Park, Sweet Day collection. I just love the way it turned out. And I was able to incorporate the Scrap Happy Round Banner Trio die, going from 2 of the hot air balloons. The base of the layout is using Scrap Happy Spearmint cardstock

I had hand cut all the hot air balloons, clouds, and the hexagon pattern from the 12 x 12 pages that come in the collection pack. The whole collection is just wonderful with all the whimsical colors and bright cheery feel.

Until the next time, make sure to stop by the store or check us out online. Blog, Online StoreFaceBook, Pinterest, and all the design team gals listed on the side bar. See you soon.

Blessings -

Echo Park Paper "Sweet Day"

Hi, my name is Cathy. Design Team Member at Scrap Happy Ohio. Susie's store is AWESOME. I shop there often. Check us out!!! You will be glad you did. I recently met the other ladies on the Team and I am looking forward to a creative journey with them. Add us to your favorites and keep coming back for some inspiration that will get those creative juices flowing.
I have been asked to use Echo Park Papers on my first post. I fell in love with the paper with the hot air balloons in the 6 x 6 paper pack "Sweet Day". While in the store shopping I ran across some wonderful products by Inky Antics, "Honey Pop Collection", and I have combined these two products to create this wonderful card. I hope to inspire other crafters to try new things and not be afraid to experiment with new products techniques and ideas...So without any further delay...

I started with a Standard Pre-folded Card. I cut a square of Scrap Happy card stock, Orange Fizz, and cut just to leave a 1/8 inch boarder of the white card showing. Then I cut, I my Echo Park papers into two pieces, one of the hot air balloons and one with the chevrons in matching colors and placed them so 1/8 inch of Orange Fizz cardstock was showing. Before gluing anything down, I added my ribbon from We-R-Memory Keepers, "Cantaloupe", I sewed a zig zag stitch (totally optional), around the boarder to hold the designer paper and ribbon in place. The sentiment is also an "Inky Antics" wood block rubber stamp which is stamped on Cryogen paper. Both items are available in the store. I colored my image with Copic Markers and cut the image out so I could pop it up with pop up dots. I created the sky behind my image by first cutting my die cut with "Spellbinders, from "Sweet Tooth", card stock I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink, "Tumbled Glass". Here is a great tutorial on creating the clouds.

After assembling all elements, I added coordinating buttons from American Crafts threaded with Scrappers Floss. I added Glossy Accents to the stripes on the Hot Air Balloon.
If you are inspired leave a comment, we love to hear from fellow crafters. Don't forget to take a stroll around the Store.

Until next time, Happy Crafting. Crafting Cathy :)
