Stand Out

One can always Stand Out in the crowd, especially if you use the Crate Paper Storyteller Stand Outs. One a layout that I completed using the We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8's, on the bottom left and the center of the layout I used the Crate Paper Storyteller, Stand Outs. They help give that added dimension in a nice subtle way.

With my card using the Lucky 8's again and Scrap Happy exclusive Banana Split cardstock I centered the flower with another Crate Paper Stand Out. It made of a nice touch.

When I worked on my next card and I used Scrap Happy Gumdrop Green Carstock I used some of the 6 x 6 Storyteller pad as the background papers behind the Stand Out to give the card a whole cohesiveness. I also edged the card and the cardstock pieces with Scrap Happy exclusive  Jellybean Green Ink.

I was a busy bee, I tell ya. With the next card. I used Scrap Happy Orange Fizz Cardstock for the base of the card and Crate Paper Storyteller 6 x 6 pad for the next layer. In the Storyteller collection there is a full sheet of cardstock embellishments and on this card I decided it was time to use them to the best of my ability. I also used the Stand Outs again in the top right corner and really enjoyed the way this card turned out.

The last two cards are not using the Stand Outs, but are both using the Crate Paper Storyteller line. I have used the Sew Ribbon on both.
All products used on all these cards and
layouts can be found at Scrap Happy Ohio, online or in the store so make sure to get down there. Or up there. Stand Out from the crowd and shop local.

Scrap Happy can be found all over the internet and soon will be on Twitter too. Right now make sure to check them out on their online store , their blog , and Facebook.

Until the next time. Have a WONDERFUL week.

Blessing.

Glory, Glory Hallelujah, it's more Authentique Glory

I am SO excited to share with you all my Design Team project for this week.  As I mentioned previously I was going to use the Authentique Glory collection again since it is fitting with Independence Day being just around the corner.  Not only that, but I absolutely adore Authentique and this line did NOT disappoint!!!!  I am still sad to say that there is not much left in store, so if you find yourself inspired by these cards and/or this paper, you had better get into that store ASAP!!!!

I did four cards this go-around and all but one use the Glory paper.  The last one, you will see, is just a clean and simple card using the Scrap Happy 4th of July stamps and some Distress Stickles.

This first one, I think, is my favorite, although I LOVE them all.  I am a classically trained musician so I have a penchant for musical notes, scores, etc., so this is clearly my favorite paper from the collection  I used my Scrap Happy exclusive Fish Tail Banner die for the chipboard banner, but you can also find pre-cut chipboard pieces at the store, too!  I used my Distress Ink in Fired Brick to color them to match the paper line.   I also used the soon to be released Scrap Happy star dies to die cut the star.   I used the  Scrap Happy 4th of July stamps to stamp the "u, s, a, and circled star" onto kraft cardstock and die cut with the fish tail banner die.  I stamped "Celebrate" and freehand cut around and mounted it on the star.  I show the envelope also, because as I have raved endlessly about, Scrap Happy will soon be releasing their envelope liner die.  Absolutely fantastic die!!!!

This one, again, uses the star dies, but I also used the Fancy Scallop Border die because it just needed a little something extra on the bottom, and this was the perfect touch.  I also did a little heat embossing with my Tim Holtz heat tool, this was one of the best investments I made!  It stands out from the rest of the heat embossing tools like a Diamond among glass, it's quiet, doesn't burn your hand, and just all-around much more comfortable and ergonomic to use! Anyway, that was an unplanned plug.......oops.  I stamped using the 4th of July stamp set with Versamark and some random American Crafts embossing powder.  That part didn't quite turn out as I had planned/hoped, a little too stark white in comparison to the distressed, worn look of the rest of the card and collection, but it certainly gets its point across, and there are NO MISTAKES IN CRAFTING!!!

This is also my favorite.  Can I say that?  I just absolutely ADORE this sentiment, it rings so true and as the wife, daughter, sister, niece, and friend of US Marines, it holds a special place in my heart.  In designing these stamps Susie did a fantastic job of mixing the whimsical and fun with the traditional and serious and the fonts, sentiments, and images reflect that beautifully.  I can't wait for you all to see what she has in store in the upcoming months.  I have had a small sneak peek and I LOVE what's to come and you will, too!
Oh, I can't forget to mention I busted out my Sew Ribbon from We R Memory Keepers on this one, too.  If you check out THIS post from last year, you will know that I love this tool.  I felt it gave this image a homey feel, almost reminiscent of the flag.  I actually wanted to try to make a flag of sorts with this, but I couldn't do it justice and felt it was too busy and overpowered the seriousness of the beautiful sentiment.  I used the twill ribbon in Hot Tamale and it matched fantastically!

Finally, as I mentioned above, this is my Clean and Simple card.  Just some stamping and a touch of Distress Stickles.  This card reflects the whimsical side of the stamp sets.  Cute font and sentiment and everyone's favorite, FIREWORKS!  What IS Independence Day without Fireworks, right?

For the supplies I used that I haven't mentioned:

- all stamping and distress inking, etc, was done with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire and Fired Brick
- ATG adhesive, American Crafts dimensionals, and ZOTS glue dots
- Scrap Happy card/envelopes and cardstock

These cards will be on display starting Saturday and each also has its complete list of supplies, etc., all of which can be purchased online or in store.

That is it for this week, hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and a Happy, safe, and fun Fourth of July, next week.

HUGS,
Candy

Scrap Happy's exclusive Fairy Stamp

Hi.  I am Mary and I am very new to blogging as this is the first time for me, so please bear with me.
Today I am going to show you my Fairy card. The Fairy stamp is Scrap Happy Exclusive stamp.  I just love this stamp but was a bit timid to use it until I found the perfect paper with the Fresh Collection  from Authentique.  When I make a card I most always pick out my paper and then match my Copic colors to the paper.  The swirls were cut from the Silhouette Cameo that is available at Scrap Happy along with the flowers that were cut and then colored with Copic markers to match the colors of the card.  The last embellishment were the three chocolate hearts in the corner of the card.  Finally, I always have to have some "bling" to my card so I added Stickles stardust to the wings.  That's all for today.  Have to get back to my coloring.  Have a great day.

Let Freedom Ring-Tip of the week

Our Susie has been a busy little crafty bee........uh, wait, she is ALWAYS a busy little bee, what was I thinking?!  But, because of this not only has she whipped up some adorable layouts and cards, but she has asked me to be her blog proxy today, so, here I am again, blogging away!
This layout uses the new Peebles line "Let Freedom Ring".  It is a super cute patriotic line with a kraft base.  Very neutral and versatile so it can be used throughout the year!  Pictured above is a one page layout, or maaaaaaaybe two page, you just have to stay tuned.   She also used the exclusive Scrap Happy star die that should be in stores this week!  Aren't they stinkin' cute?!  Another important thing to note is the stamping.  If you aren't tired of hearing us tell you, Scrap Happy has their own exclusive line of stamps, also.  The featured ones are from the 4th of July set2 available in store and online and they are made to coordinate with the star dies AND the banner dies!  If you look closely, you can see patterns on some of the stars, well that is from our stamp set, too, they are SO CUTE!  The "happy Fourth" sentiment is also from the set.

Here is one of the cards that she made, sweet, simple, and to the point.  You can see the stamping on the back, "Made in the USA", and that is, both our stamps and Susie and her card!  ;)  I bet you can't guess where the stamping is on the front of the card?!

Okay, have you figured it out?  If not, here is a
BEFORE

and now here is the
AFTER

That little circle and star stamp fit perfectly into the space on the patterned paper!  So cute and what a sweet little added touch.  Making ones own patterned paper makes your stash of paper and stamps go even farther!  What a great tip for today!

That is it for today, stay tuned for week two of design team projects and the weekly newsletter!

Until next time,
Have a Scrap Happy Day!

American Crafts Neapolitan card

Just a quick card share from Candy over at Life on the Crafty Side where you will find all the specifics of this card ;).  I am always inspired when I see this collection from American Crafts. Dear Lizzy Neapolitan is one of my faves and of course Scrap Happy has it for sale, online and in store!  It matches many of our exclusive ink and cardstock colors, as shown below, I used Sno Cone, both ink and matching cards and envelopes.

Speaking of envelopes, isn't this gorgeous.  It is also a SUPER sneak peek of a soon to be released Scrap Happy exclusive die.  It's an envelope liner die and I am SO excited to be the first to share it with you and it, of course, coordinates with our envelopes .  It will be out soon for all to enjoy, but in the meantime, enjoy it vicariously through me!!!!

Until next time, have a Scrap Happy day!

Batten Down the Hatches, We're Getting This Party Started!!!!

Holy Guacamole, it has been FAR too long since this blog has been blogged on a regular basis. Well, you can scroll down to see that Mindy got us dusted off on Monday and now I, Candy , am giving it some more love.  As Miss Mindy mentioned we are getting the official Scrap Happy Design Team going in full swing.  Some new faces, some old, but lots of gorgeous paper, stamps, dies, and fantastic tips, tricks, techniques, and ideas.  We are super excited, eager, and addicted to Pinterest so you KNOW we are full of inspiration and we hope that we can motivate and inspire you, our faithful customers and fans!  Speaking of Pinterest, we finally got our own so check that out, too!

Okay, enough chitter chatter, I am SO excited to share with you MY DT project for this blog.  It uses the A-Mazing Authentique line, Glory.  Those of you who remember me might have an idea why I get to work with Authentique,  but for those who may not, check back on this Scrap Happy blog post from last year.  Needless to say my admiration has NOT changed!!  And apparently, there are many others who feel as I do, this paper line is actually SOLD OUT at Authentique and Susie cannot get more, so if you want anything from this line, and I am sure you do, you must RUN, don't walk, RUN, into the store to purchase it!
Anyway,  Glory is a gorgeous vintage, Patriotic line.  It has a traditional Americana feel in its muted and rustic colors and fonts but adds some fun little contemporary bits in its stickers, with thoughts of fireworks and barbecues.  All in all, this is a timeless collection and a must have, especially if you come from a Military family such as I.
Because of that, I chose to do a layout to honor my GREAT friend Roger.  He is a US Marine, and I wanted to do something special for him since he was the person who introduced my husband to me, or vice versa......aww, I know, how sweet!  ;)
Pictured below is the full layout and some close-up pics of different parts.  I started with the "united" paper as my main paper.  Then, I used the "liberty" paper and cut an 8" half circle to use as my informal mat and aligned it to the bottom.  I knew I wanted to have the banner in the top right corner so I thought it would balance out better.  I also die cut the stars from my  Scrap Happy EXCLUSIVE die set of stars.  These dies are not even for sale yet so I am SO lucky to have been able to use the prototype.  You will love them, too and they will be for sale very soon, so keep an eye out for them!  I cut the stars at two different sizes with the same "liberty" paper, using the 'B' side and distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz distress inks in Fired Brick and Chipped Sapphire and they matched perfectly!  Pretty much everything was distressed with these inks.
The banner, which I LOVE, was cut from chipboard with the Scrap Happy exclusive Fish Tail Banner die.  I roughly painted them with my Jenni Bowlin paint dabber in Malted Milk and softened the edges with the same Distress Inks.  I stamped out the "u", "s", "a" from the exclusive Scrap Happy stamp set, 4th of July (set 2) on the remaining scraps from my "B" side "liberty" paper with Chipped Sapphire distress ink and die cut those with the small circle from the same Fish Tail Banner die.  I stamped the stars on the larger of the banners with the little star from the same 4th of July stamp set.
The last thing I did was add a couple appropriate stickers from the amazing sticker sheet and I took more scraps from my "liberty" paper and cut out the strips and added word stickers to them and hand cut a little banner edge and adhered them to my stars and banners!

Phew, I know that was a lot of information and a long post, but I AM known to be long-winded :)  Anyway, just an aside, if you haven't checked out Scrap Happy's stamps, they are FANTABULOUS, made in the US and match many of our existing and soon to be released dies.  The two 4th of July sets are great, great images, great sentiments, AND they match the dies.  Check them out!

Until next time!  Hugs & have a Scrap Happy day and weekend!

Onto the first of the design team projects.

Mindy - The Determined Scrapper
created this layout

This layout is of the Moments together. Using the We R Memory Keepers, Lucky 8 punches -

I bordered the Crate Paper - Storyteller cardstock with the  Homemade Pie (yellow) Lucky 8 punch. And with the Scrap Happy Bubble Gum Card Stock I used the Tattered Doily (purple)Lucky 8 punch. In addition to using the Lucky 8 punches for dimension, I used the Storyteller Stand Outs.

That will be it for this evening. Keep your eyes open for the regular updates and new products that will be coming out. There is just so much wonderful information to share with you that we will have to share it over the next couple of post.
